Kirk Family Homecoming

So on Thanksgiving day I got an email from Jenna about this awesome opportunity to capture a unique family moment on video. Her husband Jesse is in the military and went on a 7 month deployment. During his deployment Jenna gave birth to their first-born child, a beautiful baby girl named Jianna. Now, I am a dad to two little girls myself and so I can’t even imagine what it must be like for military families who end up going through these kind of situations. Getting connected with Jenna gave me a whole new appreciation for the sacrifices they have to make.

So real quick before you watch the video, I need to give a BIG shout out to Alex Slupski who stepped in and at the last minute filled in for me and filmed the actual event. (What you’ll see I merely did the edit for.) I was originally supposed to film but after Jesse’s return was delayed by a day due to weather, my schedule no longer allowed me to make it out. Alex stepped up and on very short notice got the job done. He is seriously, THE MAN. He is crazy talented and you should check him out by going to Hiring him for a video project is money well spent!

Ok that’s all for now. Join me in saying a very big CONGRATULATIONS to the Kirk family on their homecoming! Now grab some tissues and take a look!

Lehmann Family | Jacksonville Family Photographer

I've known Ed for over 20 years now. He's been a major part of my life and one of the many reasons I am where I am today. It started when he was one of my youth group leaders at a small church in Ponte Vedra when I was only 13 years old. Not only did he help to instill good and God honoring values into my life as a youth, but since I was still too young to drive he would give me and my friend Ryan rides to the Mayport Poles to go surfing AND he always paid for the parking. (Don't think I've forgotten about that Ed!)

Fast forward a little bit and when I was 18 years old Ed took me on a mission trip to Peru. It was there that I met Melanie for the first time. She was the co-leader for that trip and went on to become Ed's wife afterwards. So that is part of how this whole thing you're about to see below got started. :)

So the Lehmann's will always be near and dear to me. When I got the call to do some family portraits for them I was very excited. They have two beautiful (and energetic!) kiddos who are growing up WAY too fast. But that's ok because they made the photo shoot very NOT boring.

Ed currently works at The Church of Eleven22 (and was the one who got me connected with The DEMP Project from this post) but will venturing out later this year to answer a tremendous call on his life to start a new church as Lead Pastor. It will still be here in Jacksonville and knowing Ed the way I do, and his passion for God, it's going to be awesome!

Suzanne C. Photography Promo (VIDEO)

Every photographer's dilemma—you get hired a lot to take pictures of other people's families but rarely do you have an opportunity to be on the other side of the camera with your own family.

When Suzanne gave me the call about being interested in doing a promo video, I took one look at her work and knew right away that I wanted her to be MY photographer! Take a look at the promo video I made for her as well as the family session she shot for me.

You can view more of her beautiful work at the following links:

Laura is a fellow photographer here in Jacksonville in specializes in newborn and family photography. If you haven't heard of her, which is unlikely because she's pretty awesome, go check her out now at Pure Life Photography by Laura Davis. Laura took some amazing photos of my youngest when she was born and in exchange I did some family photos for her. Checkout some images from the shoot!

Josh and Megan are former wedding clients of mine from a couple years back. I don't do a lot of maternity photography but this couple was so great to work with so when they called up asking about doing a session of course I would say yes. We decided to do the shoot at Treaty Oak Park in downtown Jacksonville. Take a look at some of the images.

I've known Jesse going on maybe 20 years now. I had the privilege of photographing his proposal to Jenna. Then several years later when they found out they were expecting, they asked if I'd do a gender reveal shoot for them. I had never done one before but I can honestly say it was some of the most fun I've ever had doing any kind of photo session. The sheer excitement and joy of two people finding out what gender their first born will be is like nothing else.
